This week’s featured wine is the La Freynelle White Bordeaux 2023 from Bordeaux, France. #WineWednesday
Tasting Notes:
Smell: Fresh and vibrant with pronounced citrus notes of lemon, lime, and grapefruit, accompanied by subtle hints of white peach and apricot. Delicate herbal undertones of freshly cut grass and floral notes of elderflower add complexity.
Taste: Crisp and lively, with refreshing acidity. Flavors of green apple, pear, and tropical fruits like pineapple are balanced by a smooth texture from the Sémillon. A clean minerality enhances the wine’s structure, leading to a long, zesty finish with a slight saline note.
Pair with: Perfect with seafood pasta dishes, especially those featuring clams, shrimp, or scallops. Works best with a light lemon-butter or white wine sauce to complement the citrus and mineral notes of the wine. It also pairs well with grilled fish, shellfish, or salads with a citrus vinaigrette.
