Dining With Delight

The Daily Dish in Silver Spring believes in crafting more than just great food; we create memorable dining experiences. Nestled in the heart of Silver Spring since 2009, The Daily Dish Neighborhood Bistro & Bar was the first of three neighborhood restaurants in Montgomery County from chef and restaurateur Jerry Hollinger. The restaurant embodies the heart of Jerry’s philosophy – offering the community a connection with those producing food thoughtfully. He believes in serving comfort food with a twist — food that is seasonally inspired, locally sourced, and farm-fresh – in a comfortable, friendly setting.

The Daily Dish offers a warm, inviting atmosphere where friends, families, and neighbors can gather over delicious meals made from the freshest ingredients sourced from local farms and producers. Join us for lunch and dinner in the dining room or patio, where our menu features a diverse selection of dishes, from comfort food favorites to innovative culinary creations. On weekends, don’t miss our award-winning casual brunch, where you can enjoy a leisurely meal with friends and family, complete with classic brunch fare and creative twists on traditional dishes. For those looking to unwind after a long day, join us in our bar area for happy hour and enjoy specials on drinks and bar bites seven days a week.

The Daily Dish’s cocktail program features expertly crafted drinks using premium spirits and fresh, seasonal ingredients.  The wine list offers a curated selection of wines from around the world chosen to pair perfectly with our dishes. Beer lovers will appreciate our rotating local craft beers on tap, showcasing the best brews from nearby breweries. About Chef-Owner Jerry Hollinger

Jerry Hollinger is the founder and culinary director of Hollinger Group Restaurants, a collection that includes The Daily Dish, The Dish & Dram, and J. Hollinger’s Waterman’s Chophouse. His culinary journey began at Hollinger’s Farm Market, a grocery store focused on locally sourced and natural foods long before the concept existed. At this family-owned business in Lancaster County, he acquired a deep understanding of sourcing the highest quality foods, influenced by his parents. Jerry enjoys making wholesome food reminiscent of family dinners surrounded by his parents and six brothers and sisters.

Beginning his professional cooking career at the age of 19, Jerry received foundational training in classic French cooking under the guidance of a restaurateur, James Beard nominee chef, TV personality, and the author of 3 cookbooks with 50+ years experience as a professional chef, Jean-Michel Farret and chef Jean Gagliola. Subsequently, he became a private chef for prominent DC political leaders and other notable figures. In 2005, he ventured into entrepreneurship by establishing his own catering company. Following this, he successfully launched three restaurants in Montgomery County, each showcasing the best of Mid-Atlantic cuisine and locally sourced farm produce.  The Daily Dish was the first of his restaurants to open in Silver Spring in 2009, followed by The Dish & Dram (Kensington, Maryland) in 2016 and J. Hollinger’s Waterman’s Chophouse (Silver Spring, Maryland) in 2022.

Jerry, a Silver Spring resident, remains dedicated to procuring the freshest seasonal produce, making weekly trips to local farms. Jerry takes pride in hand-selecting the finest produce available for all three of his restaurants, traveling each week to historic farms in Maryland and Pennsylvania to bring back seasonal fresh produce for his restaurants.
