FEATURED WINE
This week, enjoy the Failla Chardonnay from Sonoma County, California, available at half-price on Wednesday, August 14 (regular price $82 per bottle).
This Chardonnay is an excellent representation of the cool-climate Sonoma Coast terroir, focusing on freshness and purity of fruit rather than heavy oak influence.
The citrus and green apple notes in the Chardonnay complement the flavors of Salmon, particularly if the dish includes a lemon or herb-based sauce.
Tasting Notes:
- Smell: Aromas of lemon zest, green apple, pear, white peach, subtle white flowers, and a hint of minerality with light touches of vanilla and almond from gentle oak influence.
- Taste: Crisp and vibrant with flavors of lemon, lime, green apple, and pear. The wine has bright acidity, a clean, mineral-driven character, and a subtle buttery texture.
- Pair with: Perfect with grilled or pan-seared salmon, particularly with lemon or herb-based sauces. Also pairs well with shellfish (lobster, crab, scallops), roast chicken, grilled vegetables, and soft cheeses like Brie or Camembert. The wine’s acidity and citrus notes enhance the richness of these dishes.
